Hello, I need help, I'm going to move to Minot nd, but I have many questions unresolved, if this is a good city, or better search in cities of the surrounding, Vela or garrison. I am from Texas, and I am concerned for my daughter that goes to 7 schools

Minot is a nice city.....but with the flood last June and oil work to the west, housing is at a premuim and it hard to come by. It will be more expensive than Dallas for sure. Minot has been growing a lot and new businesses opening up. My in-laws are in the Minot area and we have friends in Minot. Both dont like what Minot has become in terms of the traffic and costs, but it is what it is.

Velva to the southeast is a nice small town, but as in all small towns housing is an issue. Buying would be best in small towns as rental properties are scarce.

Magdioni,
What questions do you specifically. I live in Minot and I can help you with your questions. The main item will be that housing is tight and expensive, along with rentals. Depending on the area you want to live will depend on the availability of homes.

Velva is nice and quiet. Decent schools, but limited courses.

Good Evening,
You will not have any problems with Minot. Minot is going through a growing phase, in businesses, infrastructure, and jobs. Our rents are slowly coming down and new apartments are being completed, and home values have come down significantly since the 2011 flood. Our schools are some of the best and should have no problems. Where will your job take you will depend on the type of housing. Above, others have mentioned the smaller towns that surround Minot, which are very quiet and not from the main shopping areas in Minot.

I love Minot and would say its a great place to live! Its really what we are comparing Minot to. Im from Miami Fl, so Minot seems like a small town with affordable rent. Ive seen plenty of 2/2 apts under $800 a month now.
