I am wondering if transplants who moved to the North Dakota area over the past 5 years or so would do it again. Give us your thoughts on how you gained or maybe lost on the decision you made back then.
I've been planning on a move to North Dakota (or possibly a couple of other regions) for awhile. The reason is for the climate (I'm one of those weird cold-weather people) more than the jobs. But of course, I do need a job. And I'm not seeing all these wonderful jobs y'all keep talking about. I keep an eye on the ND Job Service website. Sure, there are a few jobs posted. But they seem to be either near minimum wage, highly specialized, or for 21-year-olds with strong backs who can handle busting their asses as oil field roustabouts. To tell you the truth, I don't see any more jobs there than where I am right now. I wish there were, though... I'd be on my way to your wonderful state! Oh, well... eventually I'll make it.
I have known many military who have retired, left for home and came back within a year. When I asked why, low crime, no slums or ghettos, friendly people, and wide open spaces. We don't have to have leashes on our children like a dog when walking around the mall. We can actually walk up to strangers and talk with them without fear.
Trying to promote ND for some commission are we...magiccity.....
And I laughed. Very funny!
