Berwick doesn't seem to care what we think about their locale. In their official website, they define the town as "a majestic mid-sized Central PA borough".

What exactly, do you think goes on at Hooters? It's a restaurant, not a brothel. And speculate as you might, unless you were there, you don't know why the choice was made. Bad idea? Probably. But maybe there were time constraints? Buses are required to follow a schedule set by the school. Were all the other groups accommodated in other restaurants and being served expeditiously? What would you say to the parents of the students who might have been denied the opportunity to eat lunch and had to ride the bus home hungry?

Headline fodder only because of the prurient connotation of "breasts". I had boys of my own, and believe me, by the time they're in eighth grade, they know what they are.

As far as scantily-clad, have you seen the way some middle-school girls dress?

It's a tempest in a teapot.

If people in the "surrounding area" were drinking beer, then following your logic, the chaperones on the bus should also be allowed to drink a beer?

Typical retort but it doesn't shore up your stance.

I agree, that it would have been prudent for the chaperones, some of whom were probably parents, to try to find other lunch accommodations, AND maybe they did.

Lots of restaurants in the Inner Harbor area. Yes, indeedy. But you have too many kids to fit in one and they had to be split up. Additionally, there were probably lots of other bus groups in the vicinity, and they were also looking for lunch. It is, after all, a tourist area.

We weren't there.

Some people may not have a problem with someone taking kids into a casino to eat or see the sights, I have done it many times in A.C. I however would not assume that another parent would be okay with it.

There is a certain moral compass that people should adhere to when chaperoning other peoples kids. Taking them to a place like Hooter's or similar places shouldn't be on the radar.
It wouldn't even pop up on my "moral compass" because I see nothing wrong with it. It's just another restaurant to me. I guess if a parent is that hard up about where their child eats on a field trip they should either chaperone themselves or not let them go.

well restaurants have separate bar and dining areas otherwise i don't think children under 18 would have been allowed in. I don't know why you would draw that conclusion that i would think its ok to have the chaperons drink beer. i just said that the girls in hooters aren't dressed that bad, you can probably see worse outside on a hot day. i think people get worked up over the name.

I think this is the point here. Maybe some parents would not have an issue with it but as LVN states, as a chaperone to OTHER children, maybe not the best decision. I can tell you I would've been disappointed in the decision to take my child there. If I decide to take them, fine. Someone else makes that decision on a school field trip ? BAD decision.

So I guess you'd be OK if they took them to a strip club? Some of them serve food and have lunch buffets. Because they won't see much more there than at the beach....

I worked down the street from the one in KoP for 6 years, went there many times.

The place is named after BooBs, unless you really think it is named after the sound an owl makes.
From the Hooters website...
"Hooters of America readily acknowledged that "the concept relies on natural female sex appeal" and the waitresses were encouraged to sit down and chat with the predominantly male clientele."

And what is wrong with that? there are a lot of places with double entendre names. And they encourage the girls to be nice to guests? oh my god! My experiences there is just sitting down getting my order taken see the girl two or three times for refills and the check. Pretty run of the mill place. Only its called hooters and the girl has shorts and a tank top on. They take pics with older guys and talk to them if they ask.. so what? to compare it to a strip club is absurd, its not like they are giving 12 year olds lap dances
