im reading conflicting information about whether or not you can insure a car in pa if you own a home here even though its not at this point your primary residence and you have a new york license ... i always thought you cant but an article in the pocono record about the recent insurance scam bust states that you can insure in pa with an out of state license if you legitamley own a home here.....

i will certainly call my insurance company later and ask but you cant always count on the rep on the phone giving the correct answere.

if you can compared to nyc that would be a wondeful savings , but somehow i got a feeling if it sounds to good to be true, well you know the answer

Correct me if I am wrong but it is your primary residence. It is where you live full time and work is where you have to be insured.

Those people mentioned in the newspaper "claimed" that the PA address was their primary. The security gate log showed that they were only there on weekends and holidays. Their primary residence was in NYC where they had the vehicles that were registered and insured here in PA. I believe that is what was illegal. They lied about where they lived to get cheaper insurance.

from just reading the info on the pa dmv site it makes no distinction about full or part time residency, only that you have a residence in pa. from what i read about the insurance scam the fraud was they didnt actually have a residence in pa that was theirs.

ill call dmv and get a clarification.
