Moving to pa East Stroudsburg v Stroudsburg
I really loved E. Stroudsburg I understand the problems but you know what every where you go there are problem and if there are no problems give it time. I need someone to Please give me some help , any locals please assist me. The two towns are separated by the river but does the crime of Stroudsburg spill over to E. Stroudsburg and what about the school?? I was looking at a house near Independance RD and the school my daughter would attend is the New East Stroudsburg 1-5grade. How is this area?
Please guys I need input, I read some news and was a little concerning
thank Noemi

I like both towns...I don't particularly think the crime is so bad in Stroudsburg.
I have heard that the new school there is a good one.

Both towns are good, the new school has just been completed my children start in two weeks, the road that leads into the school will be ready by the time school opens. I personally think E. stroudsburg is a little more quieter compared to stroudsburg's more city like. My children love it here but, I am considering selling my home and moving only because I am homesick, I'm from a close knit family and I miss my family dearly. if you have anymore questions feel free to ask.

Neither town is all that bad. I personally think Stroudsburg is a bit worse in the crime department, including having a lot of vagrants and panhandlers running amok, but I suppose that is to be expected given the "changes" that have happened there in the past 20-30 years. I was very impressed by East Stroudsburg, but I'm unsure of how "rowdy" the university students get.

I've visited East Stroudsburg on several occasions and never encountered any problems. I've been to Stroudsburg once since my ill-fated 2007 photo tour attempt, and once again I had an issue with panhandling. I don't know if I'm just hitting Stroudsburg on its "bad days" or what, but a town of 6,000 should NOT have vagrants milling around.
I suppose I'm the crazy one here. Most on this forum seem to think Stroudsburg is the better pick over East Stroudsburg, but I'm inclined to disagree. Downtown Stroudsburg is vibrant whereas Downtown East Stroudsburg is unremarkable (save for the Dansbury Depot---an old train station converted into a yummy restaurant!). I found the residential areas of East Stroudsburg to be quite appealing, and the Stroud Regional Police force was patrolling the streets everywhere in East Stroudsburg.
