Yes, this does happen in a lot of other places. But people on this forum in the past have stated how safe Scranton is. Well, it's not safe at all and it's getting worse. This is just another example.

Scranton WAS incredibly safe up until these past six months or so, at which point all hell has now broken loose. I see that at 3 AM this morning a woman walking in Hyde Park was attacked by a man on a bicycle. On the plus side our dedicated police have caught those inner-city punks responsible for that violent home invasion along Mulberry Street in the Hill Section last month. Now where is the vengeance for that poor elderly man who recently died after having his throat slit randomly in broad daylight?

Scranton has NEVER seen such an intensely concentrated string of violent crimes in what I'd guess would be about a decade. I'd wager anyone a bet that Scranton's violent crime rate will surpass that of Wilkes-Barre in 2008 for the first year in many.

I have to get the hell out of here and quickly. I can't take this city anymore. Here's the link to that article-http://scrantontimes.com/articles/2008/10/13/news/doc48f36c0ebda0b097878146.txt

Whats the matter...Reality starting to set in? I have been saying for over a year now that the cuts in police and lack of public safety were going to catch up with the city......There have been many assaults in the city that NEVER make the paper..Ask HighHat about the amount of attacks at Da U.

The only difference is that it is now reaching a level that the city and the Times can no longer hide.

It was just a matter of time before the inner city that came into the peaceful town of Stroudsburg, would soon bear its ugly face in Scranton and Wilkes Barre. I'm very sad about it........
I see the tale unfolding on your local station. Its not good news at all.
