My family and I are planing a move to PA to be closer to family in Mendham NJ. We are looking to stay near RT 78 or 80 an hours drive to Mendham. Can someone tell me what would be the best place for us? We are in our late 40's and have a 22 and 17 year old. My oldest works in Whole Foods and would like to transfer, so we need to be somewhere near that as well. We want a nice, clean and safe area. I was looking in Easton and East Stroudsburg both look nice from the computer, but I would like to hear from those who know.

Actually, I'm thinking you might want to look in Coopersburg and our moderator may be able to supply you with tons of information there. It would only be an hour from Mendham and I think most of the Whole Foods are in the Philly area. The North Wales store would only be about 30-40 minutes from Coopersburg.

I don't think Easton or East Stroudsburg would be good places to live. I would definitely look elsewhere.
East Stroudsburg is not a great place for young teenagers....Schools are not that great anymore, and
there are gangs, although people don't like to talk about it. Best Bet, Take the ride out to Pa. from N.J.
along Route 78 and stop in some of the towns...Get a "feel" for the area before you leap. Good Luck

The Scranton/WB area might be a good fit for you, but I do not know if
any Whole Foods stores locally. There is a nearby airport and easy
interstate access, decent schools, and low cost of living. We've
seen a spike in crime lately, but so has the rest of the country due
to the sour economy.

Hi FloridatoPA! The posters are right in suggesting that you look further South. I live in Coopersburg and was just in Montgomeryville today and it's about 25 miles south of me. I do a Costco, Trader Joe's loop down there every couple of weeks. The TJ's is just across the highway from the Whole Foods. If you'd like to post your question in the Lehigh Valley forum, you can get input from more posters then just me. Welcome to the boards!

Most of the Whole Foods in PA are in the Philadelphia region Our Stores | WholeFoodsMarket.com

We do have Sams Clubs and Coscos around if he would like that type of job.
I'd try Forks the area behind the Lafayette College. Lots of new homes. They have a spankin' new
Police Station right there. A great new Giants food. It is just a few back roads to the Sams Club,
Walmart, and the 14 theaters of Regal.
This is an easy skip to 22/78 and off into the Mendham and Morristown area. SIL takes this route
all week to work. As so many of their friends.
Homes there are reasonable right now.
