Re-called the serviceman.. actually i was wrong about the tube between the 2 tanks, that wasnt correct..it was the discharge line from the pump into the field. typically the pipes are a foot or less underground he finds in our area and depend on snow and a less severe winter ....not really deep enough but very typical to what he finds.

only changes he would make if it happens again is i have a few 90 degree bends he would change to 45 degree out in the field and put about a foot of top soil over the pipes

NO NOT AT ALL an appraisal has nothing to do with alot of stuff you need checked ....In fact you better have a professional building inspector go over the house and do a report .

The home inspectors may have been scared off by bears and venomous snakes in your back yard.

Well, knock on wood...........I have never had a frozen pipe in either home I left in PA to head south for a few months. We never had a frozen septic pipe..........This would be over 9 years now, and two different homes.
So I am knocking on wood because I'd rather not come home to that issue........Math........
What have you started?

Tankarma.......Did you have a home inspection? Usually that is done to find any issues with your purchased home. One can even back out if things are too bad, if there is an issue with the roof, floors, walls.......whatever. The realtor usually has that in the contract for your benefit..... "sale" Contingent on "home inspection."
It usually costs extra for the septic to be checked.
The owner is the one who has to dig the lid out if it is not exposed.
The inspector then checks it for you.......It is an additional fee, but worth it.

Yes, the mounds are called "turkey mounds".........
I don't have that however, I have a leaching field. My lines lead down to an area below that is just a pipe leaching area.
Why are some sand? Some dirt? I don't know that answer though.......hummmm
