Hi. I can't seem to figure out how to start a thread in this forum. I find myself getting ready to move to NEPA at the start of Aug for a job as an assistant prof. I am hoping to get suggestions on areas to relocate too. Is it possible to find a solid semi-rural or not yet suburban area that also happens to have some gorgeous natural beauty near scranton?? Does such a place exist? Mountains, streams, parks, woods, I dont' care--just some nature!!! Thanks guys

Where are you teaching? Unv of Scranton? Which college might effect where you want to look. Also your commute will be a big factor too.

All those things that you are looking for do exist in the NEPA area. Now can you find them all in one property, maybe, if you are willing to pay. But I would say you should be able to find several of those on a property you like and then be in decent proximity to State parks and such that will get you the rest.

Doc_Kara, to start a new thread go back to here http://www.city-data.com/forum/north...-pennsylvania/ and look for the NEW THREAD button on the mid-top, left hand side. Click that and you should be good to go.

Good luck with the new job. My youngest son is looking at Colleges now but we can't quite bring ourselves to look at NEPA - too close to home! We live in the Lehigh Valley and we're also bypassing our area colleges.
