Hi, I am looking for a car dealership in the Wilkes barre/Scranton area that has used cars around $10,000 or less, with financing, and lower mileage cars. I've asked around before, and I always heard of a few places not to go..., but I haven't found many suggestions of good places that you can trust and are dependable...

Beware of ALL used car dealers even those new car dealers that offer "certified pre-owned" cars. Stick to the actual private owners of cars. Pick up the "Auto Trader" at a news stand or use websites like Edmunds (Used Cars - Edmunds.com) to locate used cars.

When you find one that you like, buy an auto history on the car from "Carfax" and find the suggested wholesale price on Kelly's Blue Book. A little bit of research and bargaining will save money and headaches.

If you need financing, a bank will offer you a much better rate than the loan sharks that the used car dealers use (and get a nice upfront commission for the referral).

Thats bull, I would never buy from a private owner, I bought my last car from Moter World, used, It came with new brakes, tires, and low mil, and a warrenty. We have had the car for four years with no problems.

You should have thrown that dart again.
Motor World have the highest prices around.
And they will hem n haw over your warranty
if/when you need service.
I'm sure you could have done better elsewhere.
I bought my last two cars down in Allentown.
Better prices, better service, and their warranty
is honored anywhere.

I've also seen a magazine around called "The Paper Shop" which I picked up once, had a huge section of cars both from private owners and dealers. I think you can check the listings online too but have to buy a copy at a local gas station/convenient mart or pay a small fee to get the peoples phone numbers on the website. It seemed like it had some nice prices in it, but you would have to see the cars on an individual basis I'm guessing.
