Does anyone know of any good holiday parades around the NOVA area around Thanksgiving? My daughter will be here from Idaho and that would be fun.

Alleyrit, it's halloween, so that's why the forum is so light today. A lot of us are busy getting ready for the trick or treaters. Tomorrow when I have some time I'll see if I can find a few suggestions. Off hand, I can't think of anything we regularly do except eat turkey and play football in a neighborhood game. But that doesn't mean there aren't things to do. I'll bet Alexandria, Reston or Middleburg have a few events.

Little bit early but Manassas holds its Veteran's Day Parade Sat 11/06 in Old Town Manassas. We went last year and it was very patriotic. When the float went by loaded only with WW II vets it brought tears to many of us. I am out of town in New Orleans so will miss this one.

Not a parade but if you're interested in a day trip for the weekend -- tour and activities at a historic mansion/plantation south of Winchester:

Along the lines of what South Jersey Styx suggested, there is also historic Long Branch in Clarke County. LONG BRANCH Historic House and Farm Millwood Virginia (It's closer to NoVa)

Not a parade, but Christmas at Mount Vernon starts November 26. And the City of Alexandria has their Holiday Tree Lighting November 26.
