Dominion Budget Billing (month to, income, average cost)

Does anybody use this service? Do you notice any reduction in average cost or is it just smoothes out the fluctuation but you ultimately pay the same amount annually?

Far as I understood it, it just reduces the seasonal fluctuations. I didn't choose it because in the end you still have to pay for what you use and my budget month to month isn't going to get thrown off much by the electric bill.

Be careful if you use it. I signed up for it. I was 1 week late with a payment and all of a sudden they sent me a notice saying if I didn't pay 900 within 3 days they were going to cut off my power. Apparently, signing up for this doesn't reduce what you owe, it spreads it out so your bills will not spike during the summer months. what they don't tell you though is that if you are more than 1 DAY late, they throw you off the budget plan and any back balance is immediatly due.

Budget bill for gas and electric are just that - a set amount based on your average - if there is some fluke in weather, etc., that may affect it, but for the most part, it's a set amount every month and then you pay up (or get back!) at or near the end of the 1 yr. period. We've done it for yrs. and never had a problem. It's not any reduction, it's your actual average bill amount spread over a 12 month period. (Not sure why anyone thinks you get any reduction?). I can't even comment on paying late.

I have it with both gas and electric and have it set up for automatic bank withdrawal so I don't have to worry about late payments. I like it because it just makes budgeting easier for me. My income doesn't fluctuate, and this way neither does my monthly cash outflow for regular expenses.
