I am thinking of buying a property in this community. Seems nice, safe, family-oriented, easy commute to DC and very reasonably priced. Does this seem accurate? Any pros/cons about living there? Is there anything else I should know before buying?

Thanks in advance!

When I was house-hunting with my wife, I looked at a place there. The place was near ruined as there was some sort of water leak in the basement that wasn't acknowledged in the listing. When my wife and I stopped to talk to a couple with a baby about my daughter's age, the mom just vanished after barely talking to us and the guy seemed unfriendly, talking about how there were several offers on the place, etc.

The place gave me an odd vibe.

I used to take piano lessons there. It's a nice-enough looking community, fairly diverse with relatively older homes. The neighbors seem to bond over community-wide garage sales.

While I often have hesitation about recommending neighborhoods west of Route 1/Richmond Highway, Stoneybrooke would be a positive exception.
