The goal - to create business, institutions, parks whatever, that by their natures, names, patronage, etc poke fun at whatever is intended to be memorialized by "Jeff Davis Memorial Highway" Serious stuff like a Busboys and Poets along rte 1 is okay, but funny stuff would be much preferred - a Sammy Davis Jr Jazz club, a Mutt and Jeff veterinary clinic, whatever. Really good puns, and obscure references to the life of Jeff Davis are eagerly sought.

Geographic scope is limited to areas close to Rte 1 in Arlington only (its also called JD highway in PWC, but I think this project needs focus).

Have at it.

Reminds me of the controversy over the statue of black Tennis champion ARTHUR ASHE, which was finally erected on Richmond VA's famous "Monument Avenue" in between the other large equestrian statues of President Davis and Generals Lee, Stuart, and Jackson.

Former House Rep. Tom Davis has a brother named Jeff.

Maybe we can just pretend it's all in his honor, and not that other guy.

If we did that, it would be important to have a good place to get some "dinde farcie" (private joke on public forum) on the highway.

I opened up this topic thinking that it was about adding iron walls around the roadway. LOL.

Not that I have a better way to put "irony" in verb form.

Open a bar and name all the drinks after civil rights leaders.

Or, you could have a series of places featuring different "Davis's". For example, "Miles Davis Highway", a swinging jazz joint. Create a catchy commercial for it that'll get everyone using the name.

Next door, "Bill Davis' Family Affair" (a family place where all the waitors look like Mr. French).

Of course you need a Gene Davis Art Store, and Anthony Davis Sporting Goods. Davis Instruments could have an office there, too.

Maybe next door to that you can have an food court serving all sorts of ethnic foods. You can call it "Everything Jefferson Davis Would Never Eat." Why not? I'd probably go to a restaurant with a name like that, just out of curiosity.

Jefferson Davis resisted reconstruction, so it would be ironic to have a Davis Construction Company located there. Also, he escaped from Union soldiers by putting on his wife's overcoat and posing as a woman. So a Jeff Davis' Ladies Coat Store would be fun.
