My wife and I will be bringing our toddler to tomorrow's kite festival. Does anyone have any recommendations for parking near the Washington Monument? Any street parking considering it is the weekend? If not, any parking garages nearby?

Also, any child friendly restaurants near the area? It seems that the closest civilization is at least 2 or 3 blocks past Constitution.

Thanks in advance.

I would park at the Ronald Reagan Building on 14th Street. They have a food court which is quite poplular. There is a Potbellys and other lunch places across the street on the north side of the building. If you go a bit further up 14th there are numerous casual lunch places.

There is street parking along Constitution and Independence, however, those spots get taken very early especially during major events.

Some years, if the weather's right, they get hundreds of regular people with kites. Then you also have the competitors for the contests, and at least 20 or so really creative or complex kites created by a group (often college kids). There are usually a few "groups" of multiple kites too, which is cool to watch.

This year the weather was flat. No breeze+grey skies=not as many people.
