You're not going to get much more than a 1bdroom for that price, maybe a 2 at the most but that's pushing it on the eastern end of PWC. You can try looking here: Apartments for Rent and Rentals - Free Apartment Finder | ApartmentGuide.com

which part of PWC? If you are working in Haymarket, you probably don't want to live all the way over in Occoquan, and vice versa.

How many bedrooms do you need? Any particular part of PW County?

I need two bedrooms. I am trying to get a position in PWCPS, so I'm not sure what part of the county.

I don't know about it now, but we lived at Raven's Crest Apartments in Manassas for a few years before buying a home. I think rent for even a 1 bedroom was just over $1100, so I really don't know if you're going to have a lot of luck

You may want to try some of the neighboring counties--but then that would depend on where your job is located. For example, maybe look at Warrenton, which probably wouldn't be too bad a commute if you were working in a school in Haymarket, Gainesville, Bristow, etc. Or maybe there would be more affordable options in Stafford if you are working at a school in the Eastern part of the county...

I just think if your budget is that tight, gas might be a considerable expense as well--so you may want to find out exactly where the job is so you can try for a shorter commute.

Honestly I would be warey about anything that is 2 bedrooms for $1100 a month. There are some bad parts in PW county (not many but some) so just be aware of your surroundings.

HI!

I'm no veteran here (we are moving next month to NoVa) but from what I've heard, Warrenton is a reasonably priced area. We were considering living in PWC since my husband works for PWC as well but Warrenton was a little too far west for our liking. But maybe it's something you'd like?

What do all you VA veterans think? Should living20057 check out Warrenton?

My wife works in PWCPS, and from her experience, it was rough when she first started out. I believe she rented a basement her first year or two before buying the house (this was back in 2001-ish before the market blew up. Smart woman). Teachers starting out now are seeing some of the same problems i've heard, I know one was living in a rougher section of woodbridge and is bailing to share a house which worked out well. $1100 a month isn't going to get you much in the eastern side of the county, although you could try looking farther south down 1, but i'm not too sure about the quality of those apartments either.
