I echo other posters and suggest devoting the weekend to looking at other locations. A friend recently moved to a 1 br in Crystal City and the rent is in your budgeted range.

Unless you insist on not having a roommate, you can do better, if you want to (and can afford) the social life, why not look in DC itself??

yeah I saw a place that was a similar price in crystal city actually...but even though it's conveniently located, I really don't like that area. It looks so soviet-era...kind of like a drab version of DC without any of the cool things about DC

Hey guys, thanks for all your input! I decided to move into Shirlington after all. I know it's expensive, but the convenience of a beautiful neighborhood with all the amenities right at your footstep combined with relative ease of public transit nearby was the selling point. .....Also, it's a pretty swank apartment.
