The Salahis, our very own local embarrassments (not to mention regular swindlers and chronic declarers of bankruptcy) are moving to Beverly Hills. They want to be closer to Hollywood because they feel it will be in the best interest of their budding entertainment careers. Considering some of the swindles they've been accused of in the last few months, I suspect they're also moving west because everyone on the east coast is way too familiar with them.

I wonder who will be running the Oasis Winery now? Whoever it is, I'll gladly raise a glass of Chardonnay in their honor.

As for the Salahis, don't let the door hit you on your way out.

Our national nightmare is over!

I kind of feel bad for California.

This news has now imprinted in my mind an image I can't shake: the opening credits of "The Beverly Hillbillies", but now with the Salahis rather than the Clampetts rolling into town in that vintage jalopy. But I can't decide whether the Salahis are Jethro and Miss Elly Mae, or Jed and Granny (the thought of Michaele as Granny is particularly hilarious).

In honor of this joyous event, I think we need a collaborative effort by NoVa city-data posters to rewrite the show's classic theme song, "The Ballad of Jed Clampett". I'll contribute the first two lines of the new lyrics:

"Come and listen to a story 'bout a pair of white trash
Only got famous from a party they did crash"

Next lines, anyone?

I'm sorry to hear they are going. Entertainment like that is hard to come by in NoVa.

Come and listen to a story 'bout a pair of white trash
Only got famous from a party they did crash
Couldn't get us too excited as a Housewife of DC
So they packed up their bags and they moved to Beverly

Hills that is! Tax Loopholes! Real Estate Scams!

Oh... They... don't return deposits or do half the things they said.
They'll hatch a dozen swindles before getting out of bed.
So watch out there California, 'cuz they think they're real cute
And for every coconut there they'll soon have a law-suit

Y'all don't come back now. Hear?
