A good daycare school type environment was running us $280/week with our child being poddy trained. I don't consider this high end or anything, but normal. Most of the kids were from diverse normal families. The school was clean and had its own staff nurse, and chef.

How tragic for this baby's family.

The infant classroom at my son's daycare center in Reston is $381/week. Expensive, but they are always adequately staffed (usually at 3:1 for infants, even though state regulation is 4:1), and the staff is attentive. The facility is nicer than the other places we looked as well. If I recall, I believe all of the centers I researched in our area were over $300/week for an infant. I did not look at any home-based daycare providers, although I know they are a less expensive option typically.

I saw a news report over the weekend in which neighbors said that they often saw children playing unattended in the back yard of this house, which appeared to be unfenced. The two women are illegal immigrants so are being detained through ICE as well as because of the criminal charges. The owner of the home was out of the country at the time of the baby's death.

Sounds like the homeowner was making a tidy profit with this operation. 23 kids with 2 employees? Anyone want to guess how much they were making a week? With good benefits and taxes being paid on them as well I'm sure....

The baby's death is a tragic, tragic story.

And I must repost your point, because it is very common on this forum for the regular suspects
to come out in favor of the illegals and claim (among that the, ahem, Republicans should be deported
but the illegals kept)
that they are just hard-working people and do the jobs "that Americans won't do."

...Such as letting babies die in their care? Hmpf.

Why would I flame you? My wife and I earn enough money to afford day care. Now if you had other reasons to avoid day care such as spending quality time with kids and so on, that would be a different topic to debate. But otherwise I'm sorry you cannot afford day care if that's what you wanted to do. I do, however, hope you are saving for your kid(s) college education.

My question is... how do you not notice 20 + other kids in the house when you drop off and pick up your own child?
