As long as you are making at least 100k (2 person family income) and have no kids that need childcare, you might be able to get by......

4 years ago the median household income in Centreville was around 80k!
We made 90k and had to leave because I could barely pay my mortgage payment - worked 2 jobs too. My mortgage payment increased over $400 in 2 years due to tax increases!!! It was absolutely crazy......

I would doubt that you would find one that would be able to give more than a garden-variety ballpark best guess estimate. Cost of living is a personal function as well as a geographic one. BLS does produce CPI data by item and place. If you can find those on their website, comparing the CPI numbers for two different places to the national average for the half dozen or so things that you spend most of your money on might give you a pretty good idea of what to expect vis-a-vis your lifestyle in going from one place to the other...

Centreville is in Fairfax County. The property tax rate there is at an historical low of $8.90 per thousand of assessed value. In 2006, the average Fairfax County home was assessed at a litlle over $540K. The average property taxes were thus a little over $4800. Unless its value absolutely sky-rocketed (something that most people would be happy about), it doesn't seem likely that you could have been forced out of your home by the crushing burden of Fairfax County property taxes...

This was 2001 to 2003. My original mortgage payment was $1250 in 2001 and I bought the TH for 200k. In late 2003 my pmt was $1650 and we sold for 280k. All taxes (we had a fixed rate mortgage) .....

$400 a month was enough to force a single mother to sell and get out of dodge...
