I am relocating this fall to Virginia. My hubby will be working in Quantico. WE really like the Fredericksburg/ Stafford area. Is there a specific zip code I should concentrate on? I researched the elementary schools, and it looks like Chancellor is highly recommeded. Can anyone with experience in the area confirm I should look at homes in the 22407 zip code?

OOps, I stand corrected. IT is in both Stafford and Spotsylvania counties.

22407 goes into Stafford? That is news to me!

Either way, Chancellor Elementary is in Spotsylvania, off Rt. 3.

To answer the question, 22407 is a nice area, but also a pretty large area. You should be happy around Chancellor Elementary... The only downside is the traffic on Rt. 3... But the road widening project should help. (though nothing will fix the traffic near the mall/central park in the evenings and weekends...

22407 goes all the way down to 208/Courthouse RD. and my neighborhood has the dividing line go right through it. 22553 has some great neighborhoods too.

22407 is Spotsylvania, and should include the Chancellor area..... it does NOT go into Stafford County. There are ways to get around the Rt. 3 corridor, unless you HAVE to be ON Rt. 3!

I am trying to stay in zip codes that go to Chancellor Elementary. What other zip codes should I look at?

I believe Chancellor Schools are in zip code 22408 (possibly 22407)...on the cusp of F'burg and Spotsylvania. 22553 is Spotsy, and Fredericksburg (depending on the City of F'burg or in the county of Spotsylvania with F'burg address), the zip codes range from 22401 all the way to 22408 (this way when you're living in 22401 and visit 22408, you can say you're from "out of town" and refer to the people of another zip as "townies"...oh, wait...that's the Mary Wash (MWU, formerly Mary Washington College...deceptive University in a small town, "Poly-Sci", bar-hoping crowd that says that. Confused? So are they.) ANYWAY...Stafford is now 22554, 22556 and possibly others I'm not aware of. I grew up in those areas, and was so happy to finally leave 2 years ago...now I am DYING to get out of Loudoun. I HATE it. If you haven't lived in Fredericksburg TOO long, you might appreciate it, but it has become jaded over the years, especially with the F'burg musicians who think they are bad-asses and way cooler than you or me. Well, most of 'em are no names in the rest of the world, so Idk where they get their entitlement from. I can sing a song about a meal I'm eating, and no one will give a ***** just like I think their music is talentless and the band ppl are snots for no reason. I won't live there again, if I can help it. It's a lot less expensive than Loudoun, but at least you can hop on I95 and head up and down the coast on a whim! Loudoun is TOO far west, for me! We're 2 hours from civilization! At least, that's how it feels to me :/ Get me back towards the highway! (as long as it isn't Stafford or Fred! lol)

Hi,
I hope that you are not going by greatschools.com ratings. Their system is quite flawed. We were in an awful district in Pennsylvania that had 9 out of 10 rating. Now we are in the Courtland district in Spotsy and it did not have a great rating last I checked but is considered a very good district, only behind Riverbend. Chancellor Middle and High are to be avoided. Your kids will eventually be old enough for those schools too.
My advice is to google the zipcodes for an accurate map.
