Some of you know that I follow things going on at the local schools fairly (OK, too) closely. In any event, FCPS changed the boundaries for a few schools last year. Boundaries in Fairfax schools can often serve as Rorschach tests.

For example, every time I look at the new boundaries for Edison HS, it reminds me of a side view of a Scottish terrier:

Does anyone else see this?

Yes, I see it! Maybe that was their intent. Old, normal boundaries weren't working out well, so they'll make random pictures and see if that works better.

LOL at both comments! But it won't let me rep either of you.

How funny!

Where did you get this map? Sometimes I'm curious about boundaries for a school but have never found a link online that provides exactly these maps.

YankeesFan - Every school has a profile on the FCPS website - for example, here is the profile for Annandale HS:

FCPS - School Profiles - Annandale HS

If you click the icon for "Location Map" on the profile, you then get the following screen, which contains a link to a PDF of the school's boundaries:

Fairfax County Public Schools - Schools and Centers Directory

http://www.fcps.edu/images/boundarymaps/annandalehs.pdf

FCPS also maintains a set of maps for the entire system at this web site:

FCPS - Department of Facilities & Transportation Services - Facilities Planning Services - Maps

The latter set of maps haven't been updated yet for the 2012-13 school year. Because they contain a lot of graphics, they also can be slow to load, hard to read, and prone to freeze a PC.

To those who also saw Fala, thank you. I was starting to think no one else would see this and I'd have to schedule an appointment or two.

Thanks, JEB! Very helpful! I use that site a lot for the profile and home pages of the schools but since I know where they are, I hadn't clicked on the map page so didn't see the boundary links.

That is so funny. I went to Edison for two years before transferring.
