How much of a difference are we talking? For example, if a home is listed at $360k right now, how much do you think that home (or a comparable one) would be listed for in the spring?

The value of a house doesn't change with the seasons. Typically, more people are looking to buy in the spring but that does not increase the value of a home.

pretty much.

in an area like this, with as many homeowners moving in and out of the area, combined with low interest rates... steady market.

It really just depends. There are less sellers and buyers, so it can greatly fluctuate. One area might be short on homes relative to buyers so the price will be higher than the spring, whereas another area might have more homes relative to buyers, so you might be able to get a better deal than the spring. In the spring there is more of both, so you would get a more consistent price.

I can tell you with great confidence there is NO inventory right now. We are looking and about ready to pack it up and wait until the Spring. I think you would make out like a bandit if you listed now. NO inventory.

Strongly disagree your home price doesn't fluctuate with season. Right now prices are red hot, not because the market is actually heated, but because there is NO inventory and that is impacting things. I am wiling to take a gamble prices will get better in coming months due to increased competition.

Normally, the winter is a terrible time to sell (has been the past few years), but not this year.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who feels like there's not much to look at right now. We're really trying to stick to a certain price point - but even when I search higher priced listings nothing is jumping out at us.

I really hope the market opens up a bit in the Spring because browsing homes lately has been somewhat depressing!

Just curious though where these empty houses are going to come from. I just don't see many folks around here moving anywhere else.

it depends on how refined a search you are doing (trying to be in one specific neighborhood or zip code) and of course the price range you are shooting for

Inventory is down right now all over, not just certain areas.
