Are there any specialty electronics stores around, other than... (Manassas: buy, price)

I'm looking for some noise-canceling headphones, and although Best Buy stocks some, I think its brick-and-mortar stores have a shallow manufacturer range. (Bose items were great, but not in my price range! And a few others I tried did not do a very good shutting out basic store noise.)

Most of the items at Staples are boxed and not available to try on, which is problematic. I'll try Office Depot tomorrow.

Before I resign myself to Amazon and the likely restocking fee if I don't like the feel of whatever my headphone choice may be, are there any other stores I should check out?

not sure the name, but a mid to high end store took over the old tweeter location in Fairfax off 50/29. they may offer something suitable

There are 3 Bose stores in the metro area, but you could try the outlet for price . Bose | QuietComfort® Acoustic Noise Cancelling® headphones | Headphones

Shure earphones are very popular noise cancelling headphones. They sell them at Guitar Center, although I don't think they accept returns on them so maybe they have some you can try on there.

Well, Micro Center had a pair of Audio-Technicas, but boxed up only, and at a much higher price than Amazon.
A Radio Shack in Manassas had only earbuds, which I usually find uncomfortable.
Office Depot -- a washout (1 very large pair).
I'm going to skip HH Gregg, just because on both occasions I went in there looking for a tablet, it seemed as if not everyone had rec'd their customer-service training.

I'll put Guitar Center on the list for my next shopping trip.

(All this has certainly gotten me thinking about pros/cons of e-sales!)
