I think it's Woodbridge.

Sentara hospital in Woodbridge off of Opitz blvd? If so, a commute to Dumfries or Stafford wouldn't be too bad especially depending on what time you're working.

My fiancé works for the USPS and is trying to get a transfer. I plan to work at night.

Working at night in Woodbridge would definitely open up your housing options including possibly Woodbridge itself.

Woodbridge has a lot of sketchy (and dumpy) areas, so be sure you check out the neighborhood before committing to a place. Lake Ridge (a large neighborhood in Woodbridge although not in the City of Woodbridge) is a nice area. Zip code 22192. But even in Lake Ridge, it's going to be difficult to find a 3BR for $1500 a month.

And, personally, if you were open to Stafford, and you were standing in front of me, I'd be taking you through Widewater Village. Love that neighborhood, would move there if I needed to in a heartbeat. All detached homes, a couple there now for under $300,000 currently.

agreed. Depending on how you look at it (as Lake Ridge technically extends across Old Bridge, but doesn't necessarily offer all the same 'luxuries' in each neighborhood), you may have that Lake Ridge title but no easy access to pools/walking trails etc.

currently, in 22192, 6-7 rentals with 3 bed in Lake Ridge. $1,650-1,700 seems to be the starting point now (as I personally am seeing rents rising)

If you can get a job in Woodbridge, then I'd recommend Stafford if you want shiny/new/suburban or Fredericksburg if you like living in town. $1500 won't get you anywhere you'd want to live closer in, really.

Like KWW said there are some single family homes in Lake Ridge, Woodbridge area. In Gainesville and Bristow area there are mainly townhomes for under 300,000. There is one new community of townhome condos (new construction) in Gainesville starting at just under 300,00 but again figure in condo fees.
Since you are a nurse you may want to check out the Heathcoate Health Center and just behind it is the new Haymarket Health Center/Hospital planning to open in April 2014. Right across the street on Heathcoate Blvd. are condo town homes which may be convenient.
