Hi all:

I will be starting a new job in Rosslyn right by the Metro station next month. I have slugged to the Pentagon from Horner Rd commuter lot in Woodbridge a few times and found that to be pretty efficient.

My questions are: Does anyone slug to Rosslyn from there (or know someone who does)? If so, how likely am I to get a ride around 6am? How long does it take to get to Rosslyn from there? And where exactly does the line gather? And in the evening, how likely is it to get a ride around 4:30ish?

My other option is VRE to Crystal City and then either the bus or Metro up to Rosslyn, I just thought I'd test the waters on slugging, too. Thanking you in advance! Any input appreciated.

I have never slugged there, but I'm fairly sure there are sluggers to Rosslyn.

Another option is this which I think is better than VRE to Crystal City: 45 minute PRTC Bus from Horner Rd to Rosslyn.

Here is a website that provides good information on slug lines:

Thank you both! I hadn't considered the bus. I'll have to do a test run sometime.

There has to be a slug line. At Tackett Mills slug lot, the Rosyln line is next to the Pentagon.

Ask in the evening line in Rosslyn where the cars drop off. You will get answers from the folks on the same routes. I only knew of the Tacketts Mill line-never Horner but it may have developed. The Tacketts Rosslyn line sure grew over time.

Hi cmm2013

There is a Rosslyn Slug Line at the Horner Road lot. If you are faced towards the HOV entrance from the last Bus stop it is the last lane on the right before you would enter the HOV ramp. If you ask people will let you know. I am usually there around 7 and there is usually a line of SLUGs waiting but cars come at a pretty regular interval.

In the evening I pick up SLUGS back to Horner. There is a Service Road between 19th and Lee Highway. There are several lines here Stafford, Horner, Potomac Mills, and Tacketts. Most people go to Tacketts but there is a solid mix.

Slugging is probably the best way to go. An alternative is to use the PRTC buses.

OmniRide Rosslyn/Ballston AM Schedule

It's cheaper than the VRE but still a touch pricey compared to using the SLUG line. Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions.

Thank you both for the information! I go to Tackett's pretty often also, since Horner is such an early lot. About how long of a ride is it from Rosslyn to Tackett's/Horner? I know at the Pentagon the slug lines can get a little backed up in the evening because it is so busy with the pedestrians and buses.
