I think oversized egos play a part. Big Important Government Contractor Dad can't be bothered to mow his own grass.

Just my two cents.

actually from an economic benefit you are not so smart. mowing a lawn is the same caloric imput as going to the gym. you are paying someone to do a workout while you pay to have a workout.

I know that. The guy I hire charges $40 per visit for yard work. He comes once every 3 weeks. It is the enjoyment use of time that I seek instead of caloric burnout. I spend at least 12 hours every week on miserable commute from Loudoun county to DC. I make good income and would rather spend my free time doing things I enjoy over saving a cost of a takeout meal for the family.

Is "caloric imput" the only way to measure the benefit of a workout?

I am not sure about anyone else but I am scared of grass. I mean one on one I am pretty smug and demeaning toward them, but when I see how many there are I start to get scared. What if they all ganged up on me?

I really hope OP is just trolling. Otherwise, I am sorry you are going through such a hard time in your life and taking it out on an internet forum.

My husband and I neither clean our house, do any yard work, and last year stopped snow shoveling.

What is the point of making a good salary if you can't spend money to have other people do things you hate?

(ironically, I do refuse to pay someone to pick up the dog poo (3 large dogs - 1/2 acre), as I don't feel the 15 minutes it takes me every week is a huge chore.)
