I have an interview at Inova Fairfax and I'm not sure if that's were we want to live (we are from Illinois). We have to rent first before we would buy to figure out the best place. I have a 5, 3 year old and 6 month old so good schools is a must. We visited friends in western part of Virginia 2 years ago and I loved it, but would that be too far of a commute? It was pretty close to WV. I would have to go from part-time to
Full-time as cost of living is more by DC but hubby can work from home (he'd be taking a pay cut).
What I want is a small town feel, slower pace, friendly people, family-friendly but not in access Is this possible in NOVA??

What is your budget? Please read the attached thread. "Small-town feel" is very hard to come by in this area...

Budget is everything in this area, so we would need to know your budget and max acceptable commute time.

Budget is about 1500-1600/month for rent. Due-able for that area?

Assuming you want a 3- bedroom? I don't think that is doable in a family-friendly area.

Assuming that you would be looking for a 3 bedroom place - 1500-1600 is probably not "due-able".

You are likely looking at a 1.5 hour + commute (each way) to get to an area that has 3 bedrooms at that price.
