And as I said, Manassas trains are more reliable because the Fred line has much more CSX Trains and Amtrak trains than the Manassas Line.

And in the fact VRE is CHEAPER, it's a no-brainer to me.
My husband has been riding the VRE (Manassas line) every weekday since June and most of the time it's been on time...but one time last week it was delayed over an hour.

That sort of thing can can happen on Metro as well. Also on MARC and Amtrak trains. Not even clocks run like clockwork all the time.

Hey welcome to the area! I moved here from Georgia as well and it is quite different. Just FYI for your $2000 a month budget to include utilities will be really rough. Are you ok with a townhouse? Even in Western Prince William county you can barely get a single family home for 2000 and under a month. Townhouses normally run about 1700-2200 and single family homes are typically 2200 and up.

You could purchase a nice townhouse around $300,000 in Gainesville, Haymarket, or Bristow and your payment should be well under $2000 and you would be in a very family friendly area with great schools.

Possibly too far west to afford any sort of decent commute to Union Station. VRE train-time from Broad Run Airport (Bristow) to Union Station is an hour and fifteen minutes. Add time to get to and from. A monthly pass for that trip would be $260.

Yeah I understand, I only suggested because others had suggested Western Prince William County. That area is really growing and VRE is possibly extending out there within the next few years.
Ok I just searched and Centreville has some 3 bedroom townhouses for 2000 a month with one car garages. Also Chantilly in South Riding has a few as well.
