The proposed amendments (http://loudoun.gov/DocumentCenter/View/115200),

"Exemptions. The maximum sound levels shown in Table 5-1507 (C) shall not apply to the following:
(1) All aircraft sound."

Whereas before it was limited to areas around IAD.

Nobody likes roaring planes overhead during dinner/kid's bedtime louder than they already are (exceeding 70 dB!)

Let the board of supervisors know!

Since when does any county have any say about what happens in airspace?

Sure the FAA owns the airspace, but the county owns the land underneath (and surrounding) the airport. Any expansion of the airport (to say install new runways) they consult the county.

I'm pretty sure the airport was there before the suburban sprawl. I think this is called moving to a nuisance.

Where in Loudoun is there a problem with aircraft noise? The approach paths to Dulles, at least on the north side, have few residences. What am I missing?

Broadlands, Ashburn, Brambleton bear the brunt of 747s going to Europe in the early evening. Lansdowne and sterling (north of 7) have constant flyovers during the afternoon.

Yeah, it does suck for all of the people who chose such a great, quiet location for their home, and then someone built this huge international airport which causes all of this annoying noise.

oh wait...it really didn't happen in that order, did it?

Only one of the runways points that way, and I'm not sure how often it is used. Most of the traffic is on the other runways isn't it? The aircraft are much much quieter than they used to be. The point that the airport was there first still stands though. Why move to wear aircraft noise is and then complain?

Heck, I'm about 8 miles from National Airport and we get some loud flyovers once in a while. Can't escape it!!!

This won't change anything, it's not like it is changing flight paths.
