i lol'ed at dc admitting that Pepco sucks and to pretty much expect Pepco users to lose power. to dc, if they have 25,000 people or less, that's actually a win for Pepco and DC.

Now, while the storm is certainly not over, and we will certainly get double digit accumulation...I'm thinking this may not be the "Storm of the Century", as every single newscaster is yelling.. We're almost 12 hours into this storm, and I've not seen anything resembling blizzard like conditions. Steady snowfall, yes. Anything else, no.

I know this is supposed to last for another whole day, so I will reserve final judgement...but so far, nothing extraordinary.

while I know that is the party line right now, mid-day today they were saying the weather would "rapidly deteriorate" in the evening, starting around 7.

Still a long way to go, and it is still piling up.

I certainly won't fault the weatherman if things fall under predicted totals, I'll just be glad it wasn't as bad as they say...only time will tell.

The "bull's-eye" for the heaviest snow may have shifted just a tad to the north. Pittsburgh was only supposed to get an inch or two, and we are now closing in on a half-foot with hours of snow left to come. Seven Springs ski resort, in the mountains to the southeast of the city, is up to two feet and counting. My partner's family in Lancaster County, PA is supposed to get "2'-3' of snow".

Does anyone have any rough totals so far in NoVA? I'm guessing a widespread 15"+ right now?

I didn't have doubts about tris storm, but back in August 2005, I was living in Houston and passed someone at Starbucks talking about how New Orleans was going to get wiped off the map by this storm coming in. I hah heard similar stuff on the news. I thought it was the normal weather hype especially that they love to do around hurricanes. Then Katrina happened.

Sometimes the hype is totally justified.

I'm just hoping someone will come to shovel - it's so high in front of both doors and can't open them.

It's not as windy and the snow hasn't been as heavy as I was expecting.

18-20 inches would be my guess so far. Yes, SO FAR.

I have measured in six different spots and have gotten measurements of 15-32 inches (due to drifts).
