Casual bars with live music and good beer

I ask because, when the OP started the thread, I thought, "yes, that is something I would like, too!" but haven't really found a casual place with music with great craft beer. Some of the breweries occasionally have music, but I haven't found anywhere else.

(oh, and just having Allagash White, Avery's Ellie Brown, and Bell's Two-Hearted on tap does not mean you have a good craft beer selection. Not bad beers, at all, but those three are the pure basics of craft....most people want a larger selection of beers they haven't tried.)

Bottled craft beers, yes? I am not a huge craft beer person myself. The only place I really have liked beer is Cafe St. Ex in DC and they had Belhaven Scottish Ale on tap, which is my absolute favorite beer.

They had a DJ in the basement as well.

JV's has like the Fat Tires, Flying Dog's and Raging Bitc style beers. I am not as much into those. They have a beer called El Guapo that I love but I usually stick with bud light or Stella for the most part anywhere these days.

I really am not the craft beer audience, I could probably tell you if you had one in mind?

Also, Spacebar's sister location, Galaxy Hut, in Clarendon is great with live music. Awesome craft beer selection.

Jackpot in Chinatown DC is probably my second favorite craft beer dive bar but they don't have live music. Ocassionaly they have stand up comedy though.

The best place for IPA's in the area is Aslin in Reston. There's no food or music but the beer is stellar.

If you want the best beer list ever and music, attend Snallygaster on Sept 17th.

MadFox in Falls Church on Broad St. (Route 7) and Sehkraft in Clarendon on Washington Blvd. Both are brewpubs who brew their own beer on site (Sehkraft also has an extensive offering of other local brews).

Fair warning that both will be very crowded on a Fri or Sat night, but not surprising for a quality establishment.
