Can someone tell me about the Green Trails area in Centreville, VA? What is the area like? Any info on real estate values there or the quality of homes? Is it dog friendly? Also, what is the commute like from there to Fairfax (GMU area)? Thanks!

My family has lived in the Green Trails development in Centreville for almost 11 years. It is a very nice neighborhood and we like it a lot. The Home Owners Association for the community is good, very few complaints. The community is a mixture of townhouses and single family homes ranging in prices from $300,000 to $750,000 and the neighborhoold is well-kept and looks good. The prices could be lower or higher - not exactly sure since the real estate prices have gone done some in the last year. We are not that close to the sewage plant, it is not a problem at all for the Green Trails community. The commute to George Mason University is less than 15 minutes from our house. My daughter is a sophmore there and lives on campus. She did live at home last year and drove to campus. It is very easy to get to with not much traffic - straight shot down New Braddock Road. One thing we like about living in this area (Centreville) is that it is centrally located near several major areas that are easy to get to when we want to shop etc. Yes, the traffic can be bad on the major roads like Rt 66, but that's just part of living in this area. The neighborhood is definitely dog-friendly. We have a min. doxie and he loves to go on walks. The schools are excellent, Fairfax County (one of the top school districts in the nation). I would highly recommend Green Trails community to anyone looking for a family, dog friendly community to live in!

Thanks for the information on Green Trails. My husband and I are planning a house hunting trip to the area in the next week or so so I will keep Green Trails on the list as a place to look. Again, thanks much!

Another area that you may want to add to your list of places to look for a house that is located not far from the Green Trails community is Little Rocky Run. This community is located close to Centreville High School and Liberty Middle School. It is a LARGE housing area and very nice. It consists of mainly single family homes.

Is anyone familiar with the neighborhood off of Compton called North Hart Run? It is just down the road from Little Rocky Run. Any thoughts on this neighborhood would be appreciated.

Townhouses in Green Trails are even cheaper than that (foreclosures anyway)--I looked at 3 for about 200-220K a couple weeks ago. It seemed like a really good area. As others said, the sewage plant is well across the road.

Per your other post, I liked Green Trails more than Little Rocky Run, can't put my finger on why though. I think it just felt a little more upscale.

Good luck!
