Hello,

We are moving to Arlington VA with 2 school age kids. Please suggest good, safe neighborhoods with good schools around Amazon office. Please advise nearby apartments with Indian community, grocery stores etc.

Thanks in advance.

How much do you want to pay for rent?

If you restrict yourself to "apartments with Indian community", you will have fewer options available to you.

Agree with BOS2IAD- We can't offer anything unless we know the amount you can pay for rent, how many bedrooms are you looking for, do you need Metro access?

I knew some Indians, who lived in the condos at Cardinal Forest, 22152. Yellow Cab Springfield may still be Indian run....they are located in Newington, 22153.

If you or your spouse will work at the new Amazon Headquarters in Arlington, you should also consider nearby Fairfax County. I am not aware of any local neighborhoods known to be predominately Asian-Indian as most Indian-Americans are very well integrated into local neighborhoods. There is a large percentage of Asian-Indians living in Northern Virginia.

The largest number (by county) live in Loudoun County thanks to the large number of IT businesses in the Dulles Corridor, but the next highest percentage live in Fairfax County Virginia. Loudoun County will be a horrid and expensive commute into Arlington, so I recommend you look in nearby Fairfax County - specifically Alexandria, Kingstowne, Huntington and Springfield in Fairfax County. The Washington Metro Blue Line subway has several stations in Fairfax County that are only a few stops away from the Crystal City station stop, which is within easy walking distance (less than 10 minutes) from the new Amazon campus. In a few years, there will be a new station stop built within the Amazon campus (National Landing.) Springfield has a lot of small businesses that market specifically to the Asian Indian community and has several Hindu places of worship. Fairfax also has a somewhat cheaper Cost of Living than Arlington and (mostly) very good public schools.

If you have not already done so, you should join some of the Virginia Desi forums and ask for specific advice there. https://www.virginiaindian.net/desi/. At the top of the page, go to the tab labeled "Discussions."

Also, https://www.vaindia.us/events.html may have some info for you.

Seems this is a site where folks frequently ask for advice then never come back? I've seen this on a couple other sections quite a bit. Obviously this can never be fixed but I'm sure it's frustrating.

Yes. While I am fairly new here I'd think coming back within a day or two at the most would be the norm. Maybe they will but from what I am seeing there are quite of few where the OP never comes back.
