I moved here from WA state with the military and have been very impressed with the Fairfax County School Systems. FYI..for those of you moving into the area Newsweek just ranked all the public high schools and Lake Braddock in Burke VA was ranked in the 100 in the country!

Langley High School and obviously Thomas Jefferson are also really awesome schools in Fairfax County, both of which I believe have been listed on the top schools in the country as well. I started out at Robinson, then my family decided to move to McLean, and we purposely chose a house in the Langley district. Langley doesn't look like much, but it has some of the best teachers, counselors, and peer students you could ask for to constantly challenge and motivate. Also has some of the highest standardized test scores in the area, second to TJ. The only reason it didn't make it higher on the list is because the average family income level of the students is rather skewed to the higher end, based on how Newsweek equalizes the schools.

There are several schools in the area in the top 100, take it all with a grain of salt. Not saying the schools in the area are not good, because they are close to the best in the country but that rating system is crazy. Great, you gave a lot of AP tests, congratulations! Sure, that means a lot of kids took AP classes, blah, blah, blah, I get it.
Again, Fairfax County, one of the best in the country but I do not need a magazine and a dumb way to rate schools to tell me what I already know!
