Hi
If you live in Fredericksburg and commute everyday to the Arlington area, what's your method of choice? I'm especially interested if you don't make the drive - do you take VRE, a bus or a vanpool? What works best for you?

My objective is to see what other people are doing to cut the commute and up the quality of life a bit.

Thanks

Many people seem to take the slug lines.

Go google it if you aren't familiar with the concept.

I only interned in Rosslyn for a little while, but I took the VRE to Springfield and then the metro. Overall I think it took about 90 minutes. Then the VRE had issues, so I drove to Springfield and parked a few times. VRE's nice because you don't have to worry about traffic and you can just read, sleep, eat breakfast, or make a train buddy. The downside is that if you have to work late or miss that train, it's a long wait for the next one, which can suck if you just miss it and have to wait outside.

I didn't know about slug lines at the time, but a lot of people I talked to there did it and had good experiences.

When I lived in Fredericksburg I worked in Stafford but I had to go to Crystal city one day for a meeting and I took the VRE. I loved it and I wished I could have taken the train everyday!
