Anyone else do this? I'm looking at a new job opportunity with the possibility of shifting starting times (anywhere from 7-11AM) and end times (4-7pm). I figure about an hour if no traffic, but how is the traffic, and if I have a choice, what times would you start/finish taking traffic into consideration. Also, I'm close to 66/Vienna, but 123 to 95is another option...which is preferable.
Thanks!

Why not move to Fredericksburg? It's cheaper to live there. I'd guess more people go from there to DC Metro than the other way around.

I'm already living in Fairfax. I am assuming that there is much more traffic going Fredericksburg to DC in the AM, (reverse in PM), which should hopefully make my commute not too bad, but since I'm not sure, that's why I'm asking.

You should be fine. My husband used to do the reverse commute when he was a contractor.

The only problems you will run into are the afternoon reverse commutes in the summertime. I95 on Friday evenings is a bear in both directions. It's the getaway weekend traffic that can be unbearable if you don't leave the office by 2:30 on Friday. Probably if you worked until 7PM on Friday nights in the summer you could avoid it. Leaving at 4PM would put you smack in it all the way up to Springfield. But that is just a few months a year so I think you could find a good workaround.
