I found this older thread since a place here has gone on sale here today and I'm interested in it. Is parking still bad? How's the noise factor (the unit is on the ground floor)? I'm a 1st time homebuyer and would be buying a car since it's not near the metro. Thanks!

Same here. I just signed a 1 year lease to live here and all the "bad parking" comments seemed to be left between 2009-2011. Can someone confirm how bad or not so bad the parking is currently?

We have lived here for over seven years and have not been towed once and have not had issues parking or with our visitors parking. On the two or three occasions over those seven years when we couldn't find a lot or street spot, all you have to do is park on the other side of the gate on Polk Ave where there is limitless parking, always, any time of day or night. I have heard of parking being more scarce on the north side of the community, but like I said, the Maris Ave & southern most properties seem to have plenty of parking in the lots and on the street, and we have a property where there is parking right at our doorstep and rarely do we find it necessary to park any further away - there are almost always spots day and night. We have great neighbors (families and singles and couples) and do cook-outs together in our courtyard and birthday parties etc. It's like anywhere where you have neighbors - of course there are noises or odors you might not have if you lived in a single family home in the middle of nowhere, but you also get a great community of people who support each other: helping with kids, walking dogs, bringing over meals, doing store runs, getting mail/watering plants when someone is traveling - we all look out for each other and have become great friends. Parkside also has so many great parks and restaurants and activities nearby, has all the amenities of a luxury property, and it is only 10 minutes from a major airport and the capitol of the entire country - and without the nightmare of traffic that is getting in and out of the burbs outside of the beltway. I love it here - it's all the perks of the DC metro area for, in my opinion, a much better price than you'd pay for much less in Fairlington or Old Town, etc. We looked all over the area when we were buying and this property was clearly above and beyond the competition - hands down.

Also there is a metro bus at the front of the complex that goes to the pentagon - so you'd be fine without a car.
