Not really looking for a gym / fitness classes, just access to a pool maybe twice a week. Looking for a pool that has plenty of space for lap swimming (not a fan of sharing lanes with super-swimmers) & doesn't have awkward hours due to swim classes, meets, etc. Any suggestions?

Claude Moore Recreation Center (http://www.loudoun.gov/default.aspx?tabid=841 - broken link) is great. Nice newer facility, great service. It's about a five minute drive south of the Dulles Town Center off of Cascades@Church.

They want to build a state-of-the-art indoor tennis facility and indoor pool in Reston, but once again the stupid NIMBYs here have vowed to fight it. Oh, yes, a tennis court will ruin our property values!

Does anybody know of any swimming programs for young children/infants? My 8 month old has been going to classes here in San Diego for about 3 months now and I'd like to continue them once we get to NoVa.

Not sure where you're going to locate to.. But most community centers have swimming classes from infant to adult. At least here in Loudoun County the community programs for kids are plentiful.

If you are in Fairfax County, check out Parktakes Online to give you an idea of what the county recreation centers offer.

I know Loudon will have the same type of programs. Swimming is big out this area. If it's something you will want to keep involved in, start looking for a summer pool with a swim team. Never too early to plan!
