Good to hear! Do you know about Cameron elementary?

The neighborhood that I am referring to is off of Fairhaven Dr. It is basically a triangle between route 1 and N. Kings Hwy, south of Huntington Ave. We are renters, but the owner bought it last May for right around $200K. Of course, he fixed it up nicely, which is great for us The real estate agent told us that Huntington was hit hard by the economy, and there were a higher number of foreclosures. I have also heard of cheap homes on the east side of route 1 (i. e. Quander rd) between Belle View and Beacon Hill. I think it's at least worth taking a look.

Ah so it's foreclosures that have made some homes in Huntington available in the $200's then? That's cool. I just didn't want the OP to think that price point is typical for a neighborhood that is relatively convenient by local standards.

Good point Tone. I would add though that the Huntington area is still cheaper than other areas W/I 10 miles of DC. I'm not sure what the going prices are because we were always looking to rent. But, based on last years prices, and the current rental prices, I'm pretty confident that someone could find a decent SFH for $300K if they were serious.

The Huntington Metro is in zip code 22303. Check the real estate sites and you'll find most of what's in that price range there are condos or duplexes but there are a few SFHs. There's a larger number of SFHs in that price range in zip code 22310 which is on the other side of Richmond Highway but not far from Huntington Metro (although it's a large zip code that extends all the way to Manchester Lakes and the Franconia-Springfield Parkway). You might also check 22306.
