Anyone been to the new one? Being one of the "urban prototype" stores how was the selection of groceries and organic food? Was the produce fresh? Grown somewhere that doesn't require it to travel over 1,000 miles?

The biggest issue is the traffic signal to get out. It's way too short. Fairfax County needs to fix that pronto.

Most of the new Walmarts have a pretty decent grocery department, their produce however is usually lacking, hence my buying produce at either Giant or Shoppers. Most new ones have scaled down most everything else.

I have found that the new Walmarts generally have a pretty good selection of groceries as well as some organic, however their produce doesn't seem to be very fresh, so on grocery days I make 2 stops, one at Walmart to buy most everything and then at Giant or Shoppers for my produce and if they had something on sale that was cheaper than Walmart.

Yeah I wouldn't buy groceries at Wal-mart period. They order the cheapest of the cheap and don't care what the quality is, what's happened to it, how long it's been sitting on a shelf, etc, etc. Wal-mart is cheaper for a reason. Other than that, Wal-Mart abuses their workers both here and abroad (but especially abroad). As if shopping at Wal-Mart wasn't already morally wrong it is also unhealthy.
