lol what is there to think about? You pretty much either need to somehow have a larger budget or suck it up and do an apt/room share. That amount of money will not get you more than that, sorry.

Hope springs eternal, I guess. Maybe a miracle will happen? Oh no! Are we being negative again? [insert somewhat hysterical laughter here]

It somehow seems folks want to move to Hawaii and live in the little grass shack somewhere but because they are a student or retiree or [insert any sort of characteristic you feel like here] then they should be paying less rent. The rest of the folks [of any type] on the island are also looking for cheap rent and they have much better networks than newcomers. It's just the way it works. Outside pressure from over population and incoming folks pushes the cost of housing and just about everything else way up there. The folks that already live there get the best deals since they have better networks, but it still doesn't compare to lower mainland costs.
