I'm not sure if it is the same across the island but we live in Ewa Beach and it is hard water here.

The water surrounding the island is salty. Some of the newcomers to the Islands are petitioning the local government to do something to alleviate the situation, after all, if you want salt, get some fries from MacDonalds. I doubt, things being what they are in Hawaii, if they'll have any luck.

Hope this,,, uurrrrppp, scuze me, helps

I imagine it depends on what you're comparing it too. Compared to the Pacific NW where we moved from almost everywhere in the country the water has many more minerals (is harder). But compared to other areas it's about equal. I will tell you this. In Makaha, where we live, our water comes right off the top of Mt. Ka'ala, the highest point on Oahu and, yet, it still has plenty of minerals and spots pretty drastically if you don't wipe it off your car immediately after rinsing. Other neighborhoods on Oahu are much worse.

Based on information from "Da Hawaiian" window cleaning service (which took the time to test the water in various locates), the water in most parts of Oʻahu is hard.

As mentioned, the water is hard and will leave calcium deposits in most areas of the island.
I Hawaii Kai, we installed a water softener however, I don't recall the water being as hard in Wahiawa Heights and in Kaneohe.
Then again I lived in Kaneohe back in the 60's and Wahiawa in the 80's...so it may be different now.

Warning!
Do not park your car next to ANY water sprinklers...you will suffer water spots!

Hmmm .. I always have a problem with hard water (skin rashes/frizzy hair) but I don't recall it being that bad in HNL. Definitely not as bad as Phoenix where you MUST have a water softner.

We have a glass, electric tea kettle and after you boil the water, you can watch thousands of needle like clear crystals moving like a snow globe. Definitely hard water.
