Anyone living on Oahu a costco member? I mean the $60 membership is of course cheap, but do you get your money back between gas and groceries as opposed to public gas stations and Foodlands/Safeways?

Yes, you do get your money back. I don't use it so much for the savings as the unique offerings they have - especially prime ribeyes....

I'm not sure it is a good fit for those in studio/small apartments as you need room to hold the bulk items.

in hawaii it is, mainland there are competitors and many times regular grocery stores are cheap.

there's a good reason why the iwilei costco does the most sales in the world.

While the average Costco warehouse rings up $129 million each year, the Costco in Iwilei posts $300 million in sales annually.

I chose the $120 Executive membership and I easily get my money back.

I regretted that I didn't buy Costco stock 18 months ago when the share price dipped to $150 after Amazon announced it bought Whole Food. Costco and Whole Food targeted at completely different customers. Why would Costco be affected? Now it is about $250.

Costco travel, especially car rental and cruise, offer great rates and many perks (for cruise).

I can't imagine life without Costco! There is, however, a down side - they replaced Coke with Pep something-or-other a few years ago in the food court. Pep something-or-other starts life flat as a pancake, and goes downhill from there. No edge, no carbonation, just sweet yuck. Sprite is no match for 7up either.

It also narrowed the choice between either Hot Dog or Polish to just Hot Dog.

We are members (in NJ) just for the Kirkland Coffee. We go every six months and buy eight 3 lb. cans.

I noted that too, but the Polish dog didn't seem to be much different than the regular "dog". I get mine sans-a-bun due to issues with gluten.

They also dropped chocolate yogurt, but the Vanilla is great (unless it isn't quite frozen enough).

We went there yesterday and picked up some meds and I got another frangi.

I get my membership money back on bread purchases alone. I could not afford my grocery bill without Costco.
