This is good info and I've heard Stone Creek is really nice. Do you mind saying how far it is to a mall or some decent restaurants?

Thanks!

Thanks, JohnGNYC and sprintrps - I was looking at the developers websites and realtors websites for prices. We are coming next week to talk to realtors and a sales rep for Stone Creek. Wish us luck

John G. I have a lovely home in SummerGlen overlooking the Golf Course and I will be happy to lease it to you, lease it with an option to purchase or sell. I think you will be delighted with all the wonderful amentities and the convenience of the location.

Jacqueline,

Thank you for the offer. However, if you had read through my postings, you would know that I made my decision two years ago: Stone Creek. I am a very happy owner in that community.

Default on top of the world

I hate to hijack this thread but is anyone familiar with On Top of the World? We are both golfers and are looking for a "still building" community with 2 or more golf courses. Any other suggestions (besides the Villages)

thank you

My parents live in OTOW and they like it. I think there are three golf courses and they are still building. OTOW is owned by the Colen family. I think there are a couple of areas inside OTOW (like where my parents live - "Candler Hills") where you own the land; but most other sections you own your home and lease the land it is on. Nicely built homes with several new models. OTOW has the perception of generally having an older retiree community than say Stone Creek...but of course, that is subjective. Hope this helps.

Well, your concern about sinkholes is legitimate. Marion County is the 3rd worst (behind Hillsborough and Pasco) county for sinkholes. I have been in SC for 2 years and the sinkhole around one of our lakes (really a wet retention pond) has been an ongoing problem. It seems that when one area is repaired, a sinkhole opens up in another area. So far, only 1 home has had to be repaired. The other issue is insurance. Some carriers are no longer offering sinkhole coverage, while others, who still offer it, are increasing rates substantially.
