Cool Daytona beach doesn't cut it

We have lived in Ocala just over a year and always go to Daytona or Ormond to hit the beach. However, during our trip yeaterday I suddenly realize that the people are outwardly nasty. I don't want to let people like that ruin my day at the beach. I'm looking for somewhere new to spend my day 'like a Corona commercial.' Too bad no beaches in Ocala. The people are great here.

Not too far from Daytona ...you could try Ormond Beach or New Smyrna Beach. I like the vibe at either way better. I don't go to Daytona...unless it is Motorcycle related.

By nasty, do you mean "rude", or "bad hair, bad skin, haven't-taken-a-bath-in-a-week" nasty?

Head the opposite direction. St. Pete Beach, Passe-a-Grille, etc. The Gulf coast beaches are fabulous and the people are very nice.

I agree. Although that isn't my favorite part of the state (for living purposes), it has some of the best beaches I've seen here. Well worth a day trip.

Depending on what you are looking for in a beach, this is fairly close to you;
Hernando Beach

Flagler Beach and Cresent Beach (maybe too far north for you) are always nice and laid back - usually not much traffic, etc.
