Thanks for the link. :-)

Are there loans available for improving homes like those? Or is it still either you use your cash, credit cards, or gradual pay-as-you-go? In the mid/late '90s, banks wouldn't lend anything for improvements, except if you could get a home equity loan.

I'm paying as I go. But I think Amber was able to get a loan. Generally though, I think people either need to have enough cash flow or a high enough credit card limit, as banks--in my experience--are very hesitant to lend on houses in that neighborhood. But I could be way off-base. I haven't dealt with a bank in two years; things might have improved since then.
