I go to Cleveland several times a year. I know the city well and, as I said earlier, love it. It's a great city and I always speak highly of it here to people who have misconceptions about it. Outside of Cincinnati-Dayton, I'd pick Cleveland over anywhere else in Ohio to live in.

But I'm not going to sit back while they spew lies about my city, like the streetcar being voted down or billboards near Columbus signifying religious zealotry in Cincinnati. I mean, some of that stuff is absurd.

And it was voted in favor, twice. What's wrong with non-agreeing citizens putting together a petition? Are you against Democracy or something?

Or is Cleveland so like-minded everything just happens with ease and you all hold hands and sing Kumbya?

By the way, want to talk about perceptions? Care to know what Cleveland's is?
You need to actually read my posts, my man. I'm talking about perceptions! I know the general perceptions. I don't agree with them. Not Cincy's not Cleveland's. You don't need to tell me Cleveland's because I EVEN MENTIONED IT IN AN EARLIER POST!

Please pay more attention!

I mean for god's sake, I agree with you!!!!!

I posted what I thought were some pretty nice things about Cincinnati. Now you'd have to go back like 10 pages because abr7rmj keeps harping on my playing devil's advocate.

But please go back and see what I said! People from Cleveland like Cincinnati too!

The OP asked for the impressions of those outside SW Ohio and sure enough, we got them. Thanks to all for sharing.

I find the comments interesting, even those based on incorrect information or which might be taken as derogatory. I am not a native but have lived in the Cincinnati area for most of my adult life. Reading some of your comments reminds me that I thought very differently of SW Ohio before I lived here. It's a good reminder for me not to be too judgemental of places that I do not know well.

And bjimmy, I'll say it - thanks for your positive comments.

Hey, bijimmy, abr7rmj, and TomJones123! Now that you guys have come to some sort of a consensus and moments of truth concerning Cleveland-vs-Cincinnati, why can't all of you combine your god-given talents and vitriol, and gang up on our third member of the "3-Cs"? (After all, fellas, it's so easy, fun, therapeutic, and destructive.) What' there NOT to like about such renewed teamwork and sense-of-purpose?

Just to further elucidate my point on the conservativism and religious nuttery that exists in SW Ohio, here http://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/16/us...self.html?_r=0 is an article from today's New York Times about Cedarville University, a school that fired an employee for writing a book that "failed to make strong enough claims for the creation of the world in six days", and showed dismay that a school official was teaching students to engage gay and lesbian people gracefully with their disagreements rather than combatively. A school that was concerned that a book that argued against war and poverty, by a christian fundamentalist no less, was against their conservative vision. Such a school would not exist in the Northern part of the state, and the fact that it does exist within this state makes me want to accede to Mike Polk's Ohio Secession Compromise Plan.
