Not sure if you're still out there reading, but if you are I'd point you to MiddletownUSA.com

When you go there, look at the forum.

For context, it's a bunch of senile Trumpies that post there. They all want the 1950's back.

With that being said, they all seem to believe the "rich, liberal yuppie" (quoting them) people live on Main St., the city gives the street extra favors, better policing, etc. basically a bunch of stuff that gets their panties in a wad. But if they are correct then that's a lot of advantages you'd had living on that street in that house.

So, as far as someone from out of state looking to move to OH, it wouldn't be a bad buy, but I'd go for Hamilton over Middletown.

Middletown is really polluted. You might not think much of it initially, but once you're there for a little while you'll see the negative side effects, like the discolored gray-white buildings around town that collect soot, the bad smells, and murky creeks. Hamilton WAS really polluted, but the paper mills and auto plants shut down, and as a result, a lot of people are discovering a beautiful, clean city in a prime location and are revitalizing it accordingly.

Is Thorny Acres near the mall still quite nice? I lived nearby for 5 years. however....that was years ago.

It should be. The housing by the mall is well-kept, in general.

Thanks. I grew up in Willoughby Ohio, vividly remember Cleveland in the '50s as well as East Cleveland in the '60s. I have no desire to move to a war zone. My requirements are simple: no tornadoes, some open water to canoe, good neighbors, little snow and a decent honky tonk within 20 miles so I can play pedal steel guitar with friends... -L-

This is where I live now:
