We recently bought a house in the Choctaw/OKC area. We’ve learned that when we have deliveries of furniture, etc., it’s advisable to stand in the front yard and wave at the delivery truck. GPS, Google Maps, Mapquest and similar systems give the wrong directions. Today I tried to see if AT&T had service in the area and got a reply that they’re unable to find our address.

The house was previously listed on the County Assessor’s website using the builder’s business address, because he was the previous owner. The website has been changed to include the correct mailing address, but the physical address is still the builder’s address. I sent an email through the website this morning to ask about that.

I checked the Address Verification section of okc.gov and got the reply “An exact match was found. This is a valid address in Oklahoma City.” At least the Post Office and OKC trash trucks can find us!

Is there anything we can do to get this address properly recorded in various systems, or, since it’s a new address, should we just give it time to happen? Thanks.

For about 10 years FedEx couldn't find my address but USPS and UPS both could. We were the only house for an entire mile so it really seemed to me it shouldn't have been that hard for anyone.

I wondered at the difference for a long time and eventually decided that USPS and UPS both kept the same driver or drivers for my route. In fact we came to even know their names and develop a bit of a relationship as you do when you see someone somewhat frequently over a period of time. FedEx never had the same driver once as far as I can recall.

Good luck!

I have a few friends in that area and it's just something you have to kinda get used to with everything running together.

For example, Del City rolls into Midwest City and MWC rolls into the Choctaw community, and Choctaw is right there with Nicoma Park and Harrah, all within about ten square miles! And for added confusion, the Oklahoma City limits run parallel to these communities just on the other side of I-40.
